I read a version of that essay in one of the online papers a month or so back. It was very insightful. That's awesome that you got a reply to your comment.

It's awesome even if it isn't, but I agree - if it's her, well...that's pretty incredible and unexpected.

Well, I don't know why they would bother, except to be kind to me, which is a grand gesture in and of itself. It wasn't malicious at all.
