hahaha thanks.. hat = I didn't wash my hair today..
It's called Combat Boot Camp. These high school/college kids are directors, actors and playwrights. they have 48hours to get 8 shows written, directed and perform the show. We started it off today and they have all day tomorrow with their performances at night. I do this as well with an adult group, but we only have 24hours. It's the hardest/scariest thing I've ever done, so with the kids I am a mentor. I help out each group with any problems they come along the way.
I usually teach in the summer, but pay was offered with this gig so I took it. I actually like these kids. They're funny. YAY
It actually wasn't a bad weekend. The kids were great and they actually thought I was cool :D
I usually teach whenever I'm free and the opportunity rises. I've done school tours in Utah, Nevada and Arizona and taught Shakespeare's text, stage fighting and improv. That was a 4 month gig where we went to schools, preformed Romeo and Juliet and taught after. We went to youth correctional facilities, school for the deaf, polygamist communities and just regular high schools. That was fun/exhausting.
I've taught at First Stage children's theatre for several years. Taught Shakespeare and voice and musical theater (choreography). I taught grades 4-12. That was very hard. Long days, dealing with many kids with ADD/ADHD. Hard. Hard. Hard.
I've been teaching at this summer camp for the past 2 years. It's free to high school kids. They audition to get in. In a month they write a show, music, lyrics and stage it,and then we tour it for a week around senior centers and boys and girls clubs. These kids aren't necessarily wanting to be actors, but
