For love or money?
Actually this has nothing to do with love, but anyway..
Fairfax digital is currently running this competition, where you can win a trip to space, or opt to take $140 000 instead.
* The sub-orbital flight will take place on or before 31 December 2010 on a date to be scheduled by SA Ltd. It is likely that it will take place during 2009.
*If a trip is delayed due to weather conditions, transportation delays, government intervention or other conditions over which the Promoter or sub-orbital flight operator has no control, the cost of such delays will be the responsibility of the winner.
*If the winner is unable to take, or elects not to take the sub-orbital flight on the date scheduled by the flight operator pursuant to paragraph 13, only one alternate seat on another date will be scheduled under the same conditions. If the winner is unable to take or elects not to take the alternate scheduled space flight, the winner shall forfeit the space flight. No changes to dates can be made by the winner once tickets are issued.
*The prize cannot be transferred from the winner to another person or party for any reason and shall not be sold or placed on auction sites such as Ebay.

I would love love loooove to take the space flight, how fricken awesome would that be.. but the flight wouldn't take place til 2009/2010, and after reading the terms and conditions.. there are so many things that could go wrong and might make you ineligible for the flight..
It would be better if you could decide on taking the flight or the money closer to the date..
I think I would take the cash, invest it, and with inflation/interest and stuff, by the time commercial space were available, hopefully I would have enough to do the space flight anyway :)
