OMG had minor computer related heart attack today.
I took my laptop in to be configured for the lab network. I gave it to Mr Techie guy who said no problems he'll get it done right away.
Two hours later I head back expecting to find nice configured laptop.
Instead, a ghost reformatter was running.
"Oh" says he. "You were running XP home not XP network, so I'm making a copy of your system and reformatting it to XPNetwork."
"Will everything run the same?" asks I.
"Oh yes" says he. "Mostly."
"MOSTLY?"I query.
"Oh yes, mostly." Says he. "You might have to reinstall a few of your programs but all your files will be there."
(Note at this point: ALL my program cds/backup files are in ENGLAND. Which is very far from AUSTRALIA as the crow flies or more relevantly, the CD Doesn't. )
I quote from my notebook:
AAAARGH He's Reconfiguring my laptop to XPNetwork And I'm going to have to
reinstall ALL MY PROGRAMS AAARGH!!!! They're BACK IN ENGLAND AAAARGH!!
If I can't get adobe premiere pro 1.5 back I will cry.
WAAAAAAGH>
My Adobe Premiere Pro install is a rip and Not Re-gettable by anything remotely easy. And my AMV bunnies are just returning!
I proceed at this point to have a major internal wibble attack.
LUCKILY I go back. Apparently because I've just downloaded about 10 gigs of Bleach, by hard drive didn't have enough space to take the reformat, and it's back to normal.
So I have my photoshop. I have my 238473 different programs of which only about half work and the other half I have to toggle with to get to work but IT DOESN'T MATTER.
I HAVE MY LAPTOP BACK!!
What is that saying? "You only know what you really have when it is threatened to be taken away from you" or something.
SOTRUE.
