Hello? Is it me you're looking for?

Hello(ooo, ooo, ooo...). Is anyone still here?

So here are some things about me:
- Am looking for a new place to live. This is a LONG and FRUSTRATING story, but the bottom line is I have had it with the landlord and really want to live by myself. As much as I love my roommates...I do not love that we have different ways of looking at the world, and a ( Read more... )

Hi!
I wish I had come to this conclusion earlier, too, maybe a year ago. But the thing is, a year ago I WAS satisfied. Things have changed a lot.

I don't have a magic wand, but I will say that a lot of people here have their master's in Arts Administration. And there are a lot of funders that aren't necessarily non-profit, so that might be better for you, money-wise. (I can tell you I get paid shit right now, relatively speaking. Government!)

There are also always state arts agencies to look into. Here are two resources we direct applicants to on our web site:

Hope that helps. Keep me posted! Maybe we should just do a Freaky Friday, because I have been thinking I want to get more on your side of things.

Lots of stuff going on with Sarah! I'm glad you posted. Like ciachick711 said above, I still check LJ regularly, but I don't post very often. And I too miss the days of fandom. I can't tell you the last time I watched The Office, but man, the days of our Michael Scott crush were fun. As were the days of Gilmore Girls fandom. I still miss that show, and all the fun times I had with you girls. It's good that life changes, but it's also really sad that life changes.

People in relationships: How do you know?Ha! I honestly don't think there was ever a big ZING! moment for me in my current relationship. He wasn't even on my radar, but I was apparently on his. And for the first couple of dates I was *very* hesitant. And then on our third date at a pumpkin patch, I was totally charmed, and it just kind of went from there. There are still moments where I wonder if I really know, though. Not gonna lie ( ... )

i think we all must still check this site regularly, because I do, too. And yet none of us post. So...what have we been checking?

In honor of this conversation, I started watching season 2 of The Office this weekend. It's still wonderful. Gosh, I love Steve Carell. Have you seen the trailer for his new movie coming out this summer? It's called something like, "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World", and looks pretty great.

Thanks for your insights on relationships. I dunno. I have this constant battle of like, I shouldn't write people off right away for little things, but I also shouldn't keep going out with someone if my gut is telling me that it won't work. And I seem to always do one or the other. I need to find a medium. But maybe everyone does this?

Man, lots going on in this entry! Good luck with the job hunt and the search for a new place to live. I think it's normal that you're outgrowing the age of having roommates. I hope you can find somewhere nice that you can afford on your own.

I would give the guy a second date. He definitely sounds nice, so absolute worst case scenario, you get another free meal and decent company. Then if it seems "sparkable", pursue it afterward; and if not, don't. Win/win!

I'm curious about Cabin in the Woods, because I'm a huge Joss Whedon fan, but I don't like horror movies at ALL (because I'm afraid to go to sleep afterward, lol). Why did you find it hilarious? Is it supposed to be funny, or scary, or both?

I want to get back into the Dresden books, but Cory's friend who was lending them to me one at a time joined the Marines and got shipped off to Japan! And I'm too cheap to buy them myself and too lazy to find and join a library and see if they have them. I'm kicking myself for not getting the whole series from Cory's friend before he left ( ... )

My last Dresden book was Proven Guilty, though I don't know what number that is. My problem is that I always read them so far apart -- like, I've been reading these over a period of like five years, in between lots of other stuff, whenever Cory's friend happens to give me a new one -- so I forget all the little details. I do remember that last one had lots of references to old stuff I didn't really remember very well, so I think I'm starting to get into what you mentioned about bringing it all together for something big. I guess I need to just start over and read them all in a row without interrupting the flow with other books in between ( ... )
