I want to start blogging again. I've been thinking about it for a while, and I think it's a good habit to have... My main hurdle right now is to figure out the how and the where ( Read more... )

You could post on Dreamwidth and crosspost it here. (The cons, to me at least, are that it's hard to filter the entries more down than keeping them f-locked, the fact that user tags link to DW blogs and you have to edit them if you want them to link to the LJ blogs and you have to change the icon if you don't want to use the default one).

But I think the options that you mentioned, are your best bets for a blogging platform AFAIK.

I think you should blog wherever you feel comfortable blogging. Just be sure to let me know where, as I'd like to follow.

I'll be sticking with here for now :) I'll maybe move / double up on some entries later, once I have more content-y content...

I made a bunch of my early entries private because...yeah, weird seeing yourself from 10 years ago. But mostly I like still using LJ (the little that I do). I can see the value in a fresh clean space, but the convenience of it all together works for me. Especially because, for me, I'd want all my friends to join me in this new place, and I can't guarantee they'd do that, but I know they're still here. :)

I figure this is as good a place as any to get my feet back under me, so I'll be sticking around for a bit, as you may have noticed ;) If I start an open blog, I can pre-run some content here, practice my writing, that sort of thing :D

My LJ's nearly 11 years old now too. We all change over time, and I don't think anyone who follows you here would expect you to be the same as you were a decade ago (or if they do, just let them be disappointed and move on). If you want to keep some or most of your current LJ friends, you could 'rebrand' by changing user name and theme and locking down the older entries. Or you could move to a different platform, publicise it and see who follows. On occasions, though, the ability to look back into your own history can be valuable

I've been locking down some older entries, yeah. There is some stuff in there that's surprised me, too.

I think the problem is that I expect myself not to have changed, somehow...
