"If you want to leave, Bones," Jim says, low and furious, "you can just fucking ask me. Do you want to leave?"
OMG, that line means so much much much more now that I've read the ending.
"No," he snaps out, because if he isn't grouchy about this, he'll reveal too much. .... Jim, however, does what Jim tends to do when faced with high emotion: laughs it off.
Okay, angsty drama aside, I'm incredibly amused by how this is such a pivotal point in their relationship, and neither of them can face it. Silly boys.
The uneven rhythm they settle into is nothing like the easy camaraderie they'd had from the moment they met. Jim doesn't have faith in him anymore, that much is obvious.
And I now realize that while Jim's mostly lost faith because of the whole "You didn't telling me you were a fucking werewolf!" thing, but reading it the second time, I also realize that Jim is extremely shaken because the person he knew would never leave actually seemed to be considering leaving. And ouch, that would be scary.
sooo much good stuff in this chapter and so much sad stuff too. The imagery of bones shifting back and forth between human an wolf is UNBELIEVABLE and so good and full of action, it's perfectly executed and i could see it soo clearly. That was really great! Though i have niggling question because at one point you say it's 80 pounds of wolf bearing down. were you referring to the bite pressure or the actual poundage of the wolf? I always thought wolves were much heavier... But the thing that shoots me through the heart is Bones giving jim a puppy-dog expression...as an ACTUAL puppydog! usually it's the other way around and it's gratifying to see that it works on jim as much as it does bones.

Bones and Kirk. They are like newborn puppies, blind, helpless and incontinent, but still adorable. *smirks*
As for Titania... well, I have plans for that planet. *evil grin*
