He says its in the eyes, but Lancelot knows it's more than that. It's more than the bitchslapping too, though he secretly thinks that's sort of hot. It's not even the way that Gawain sounds when yelling at him in welsh or the way he mangles french when trying to make a point. It's more the fact he's always there that makes Lancelot smile.

ANd it's the fact he'll never leave that makes him love Gawain...

There's that particular expression on Denethor's face when he's forced to conceed the point that Imrahil pretends he can't stand to see because it means he's lost.

The truth is victory has never been half as much fun as being almost rewarded with that smirk, a spark in the Steward's eye, that inclination of his head.

For that alone, Imrahil would gladly conceed everything. So long as Denethor doesn't find out...

It's not that he looks like Hornblower. Really it isn't, Pellew tells himself again, as he watches Amrothos leave his office and sighs a little. For one thing, Hornblower wouldn't think to get away with something like this. He plays too much by the rules, is too caught up in them sometimes. Admirable certainly for an officer, but really rather boring in the scheme of things.

It's easier to understand Amrothos for one thing, after all, there's something in him that reminds Pellew of himself and yet, not himself. As daring perhaps, but Pellew was never half so smart, never had the strength of his convictions the same way that the Dol Amrothian does.

That's probably the reason it's getting so hard to say no to him...

From her vantage point in the back of the classroom, Lassa has to stiffle a little laugh as she watches her master attempt to fill in for the Galatic Geography instructor who's out sick today.

She'd tried to warn him Anakin wouldn't have anything done, that he thinks the class is useless and since Tru Veld is off planet, he hasn't been able to steal the homework but there Mace is anyway, face right next to Anakin's, so close they're probably sharing breath, and he's in the middle of one of his speeches, the sort that everyone else meets with silence for a good long while.

Anakin attempts to fend off a question with ignorance and Mace's voice rises, causing most of the padawans to look terrified and even Anakin begans to waver.

"WHAT ISNT NO PLANET I'VE HEARD OF!" Mace finishes, and Anakin is left speechless. As the class moves on, Lassa has to fight to keep from snickering.

Watching her master get the better of Skywalker...She could watch that one again and again...

It isn't that he doesn't love her exactly, it's more that she isn't him. Sometimes, most times, if Arthur is going to be honnest with himself, he still can't get Lancelot out of his head, even so many years later.

But if he can't, Guenivere understands that anyway. Though they've never talked about it directly, it's clear enough that she knows, she understands, she does not mind the fact her husband still loves a man who's been long dead. Much as Arthur sometimes wishes he could put that aside, be the proper husband and king his queen desires but Gwen's hardly so proper herself.

After all, she loved Lancelot too.

It's that shared secret that keeps them together, in the end.

It doesn't matter who Liv's father is, it doesn't matter that her accent feels out of place among all the Scots here, or that she thinks she's going to fail history, considering she doesn't know half of the things her classmates seem to take for granted having either grown up here or been at school long enough to absorb.

When Billy smiles, when he kisses her, everything else melts away and they're only left alone in something like their own world. It's funny, but Liv feels like they've both been here before. She can't explain that, but it doesn't matter.

That's just the way it is.
