Who is it?

I am reading a wonderful legendary based trilogy about King Arthur at the moment. I like the way the author goes for it: Lancelot is not portrayed as Lancelot Du Lac, a loyal knight at Arthur's table, but a simple scullion at Camelot, named Dulac. Just because he finds a magical armour, made of silver he turns into Lancelot Du Lac as soon as he ( Read more... )

I'd like to say I'd be Arthur or one of the loyal, fearless, brave knights, as I tend to fall into leadership positions (even though I don't like them) but I'm sure it would end up being someone's maid or a random princess that was someone's second daughter who ended up being pushed to the side. *laughs*

What is this book series? Sounds interesting.

And have you been watching Merlin (the BBC series)? I really like the twist on the legend it's presenting.

;)

Of course, the King himself... good explanation you added (and I doubt that anyone would push you aside)
So, probably we should talk more about the leading positions....? *winks*

The books are written by a German (not sure if he is German, to be honest - probably from Switzerland) author, called Wolfgang Hohlbein. He writes a lot of stuff and in fact a lot of poor stuff. Not all is good so I am always careful before I buy anything from him. But it is always fantasy like - sometimes more history based, sometimes pure fiction, sometimes happening in present times. I am not sure if he was translated into English yet...

The trilogy is called "The Legend Of Camelot"
(the books are: Magic of the Grail, Elf Sword and Runes Shield - which is no doubt no proper translation but maybe it helps to find anything)

I never watched Merlin, no... should I?

Yes, you should watch Merlin. It's very silly and NOT like the legend, but I think you'd enjoy it for the fun. Arthur and Merlin's relationship is great.

And thanks for the info on the books! I'm sure they're not translated, I guess...as meine Deutsch ist sehr schwer. ;)

Merlin and silly sounds like Monty Python's Holy Grail *laughs* not sure if I like THAT.

I feared they are not translated. Best books are never translated. Probably I should translate it *g*

I love your icon, by the way!

Glad to see you active in your LJ again, dear knight!
And what trilogy are you reading? It does not sound familiar to me as something I've read myself...but anything Arthurian I want to read!

As far as your question, my answer would be much the same as Ashley's - I relate the most to Arthur himself. I have many of his personality traits and he is the person that I am most drawn to. Perhaps I would have been his mother or sister if not Arthur himself. The only knight I've ever really felt some draw to is Sir Gawain. And if I was not Arthur or one of his loyal knights, then I would have been some lord's daughter who would have been married off to some other noble upstart.

I will have to think about you though....no pirates in King Arthur's court *lol* But there is no obvious choice for you in my opinion - as you say, difficult question indeed.

Thank you - it is good to be back. And I added some information about the books in my answer to Ashley's comment.

I can see you completely as legend based Arthur (well, not all variations but certainly the classical one). Always suffering and concerned that others are happy and well. I do not see you as his sister or mother. No. Never. The other lord's daughter works fine for me, too. I can see that.

No, no obvious choice and I think about it for two days already *laughs* How sad...

Will you be on Yahoo tonight? I will try not to miss you again...
