I finished the King Arthur trilogy I refered to in an earlier post and I am not happy with it. In fact I am pretty annoyed with the author.

What started with an awesome storyline…

Dulac was found at a lake and raised by King Arthur’s old cook on Camelot. He works with him in the kitchen and serve king and knights at the round table. Morgaine and ( Read more... )

Dang, don't you hate that? I loathe spending the time getting amped up on something that seems like it's the best idea ever (and that synopsis sounds absolutely intriguing) and then it's completely disappointing.

I used to read Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake books like they were food and I was starving...and she herself after a while changed things so much that it became a chore. What a let down for someone who had written so well to become boring and predictable as all fuck.

I would say that some of the ideas this man presented for Legend are usable for sure. Maybe we can see some of them in something you and me and Cat do perhaps. *wink*

Thanks for the info; I looked for these books but my German is not good enough to read them. *laughs*

I hate it indeed. And I try to avoid it with reading through a few pages before I buy the book but well, not always possible and sometimes you choose the wrong pages obviously. So it happens every now and then.

I know what you mean about the changing things. When I started with this author it was not like it is now. I think he is just hurrying through his work (he writes piles of books, too many if you ask me).

I would love to add some of the ideas to anything the three of us will do together. Maybe. One day *laughs*

A way to improve your German *g* but seriously, no waste that you cannot read them.

Oh, meine Deutsch ist sehr schwer. I haven't practiced in way too long; here in Texas we have little use for it unfortunately unless I go up to the Hill Country. Fredricksburg I could probably find a few folks. *laughs* My family is originally from Bavaria (and Greece; that's where my last name comes from ;P) but I haven't been there since I was 16. A long time.

And as I have the pile of DOOOOOOOOOOOOOM of books, I don't think I'll add something that's awful. *laughs* Thank you for the tip.

Doom of books *laughs* I like that.

Time to study again then probably... reading something easy.

No, you are not wrong, dear. I mentioned the books in an earlier entry already so I did not post details again about title and author. The old stuff written pretty well - when he wrote alone, years ago. But writing with his wife did not improve his style. The amount of books he is able to publish makes me suspicious.

Robert J. King... I read something he wrote. No Elves though. Or probably I cannot remember? I think it was "Lancelot du Lethe". The translated title was different and I still wonder why they called that book "Lancelot's revenge". I have to read it again but I think I was not pleased with the author. Aigan.

Not sure what will be next. Arthurian legend based it will be Gillian Bradshaw's trilogy. It is written in Gawain's point of view. After that "Mists of Avalon" nightmare from M. Zimmer-Bradley I really hesitated to buy a book written by a female author but I was reassured by Lessy that she does not has issues with men. Well, we will see how I like her fleabag.

But I will read it again because I cannot remember a single word and I still wonder where the "revenger" part was...

I read the book about Orkney's sons. It was not bad to read but again, I have to read it again probably. I tend to mix up all the books I read already.

Elves??? Uh...no, that is something that I do not think I could read either. I am not sure that I could read a crossover like that. I love both the King Arthur tales and Lord of the Rings, but I don't think they mix persay. *laughs*

But I remember you talking about the swords in this series and that part does sound very interesting. I am sorry that the author ended up not following through with what was interesting about the story.

But it is always fun to read other stories on the legends, even if we don't agree with them in the end. Sounds like you found something that you could use though. I look forward to seeing what that might be. *g*

*laughs* I know... awful. The first time they answered Lancelot's question why they are different with a plain: "Because we are Elves." I had to read the line three times to get the point. They discribed it well with the gate between the worlds but still... Elves!

Oh yes, I found a lot of things I will follow in my own writing and roleplays. So... it was worth the read.
