It's hard to make me not like vampires.

But I watched Vampire Diaries tonight, and it managed. Seriously, I thought nothing short of Twilight could so entirely make me not care about vampires. I watched Moonlight. I watched Blood Ties. I watch True Blood. None of these shows are or have been, in any way I would define it, good. But I enjoyed all of them. I didn't care if they were bad. ( Read more... )

I'm sorry I just wouldn't know I didn't read the books! D:

You should watch the first episode just to commiserate with me about how very awful it is.

It will probably hurt you. I forgot to mention how ridiculously hard they try to "update" things, and be current.

Yes. This. It's ironic because I love vampire stuff, but I cannot STAND the majority of vampire stuff. And because of my knee jerk hatred to Twilight and pretty much all things vampires(just because I KNOW they'll do it wrong, for me) I have an unexplainable rage towards Vampire Diaries.

Last night before my favorite show ever~ I was watching the last like, 2 minutes and I wanted to throw a shoe at the tv as hard as I could. It just makes me rage SO HARD when they basically take some random hard body guy, make him a vampire, and then have a corny ass love story. Where the fact he's a vampire almost never comes into play. Or when it does, it's just "Woe, I am a vampire. Our love can never be... But eventually I'll put it in and gnaw on your neck."

FNNNNG. Brb, going to my vampire rage corner.

THAT SAID. I like True Blood too. It's a good, well written show. Also, I'm totally on Bill team, but I'm really biased towards the southern gentleman type.

It's sad. It really is. I love vampires. Played for horror? Played for romance? Both? Whatever. I can swing with it.

But when it's just "lookitthesexyvampire" or vampire angst, what's the point? I mean, seriously, What. Is. The. Point? There have to be a dozen at least marginally interesting conflicts and kinks vampirism could add to a romance plot other than just... but I'm a vampire, angst.

I do like True Blood. For the most part, I think it's good, though it does have a few problems. I'm irrationally annoyed by the whole Jessica "virginity" thing. I get the point, and they're handling it well as characters--it's well written as far as that--but the whole feeling of "It sucks to be a virgin!" is annoying, particularly when you think that... dude. She's a vampireEven if the hymen grows back, why does breaking it hurt so much? Vampires get thrown around and put through things that ought to hurt more than that on a regular basis, and unless it's magical or silver or sunlight ( ... )

I saw part of it and cringed, not a TV twilight rip off and just died inside I couldn't believe how many channels it was on *shudder* and I'm glad I didn't see more. Something tells me the producers or whoever were trying to bank on something and failed miserably.

...At least, I hope they failed. If that show is a success, I'll cry.

Fuck - that bad, huh?

You know, my tolerance level may just be a tad higher than yours. But that's no surprise, given HOW BAD my taste can be. I'm totally okay with it!

....you know, I even liked the freaking Queen of the Damned book. (I fangirled the movie, even though it was steaming pile of WTF spread on so many clichés I can't even count that far, but only because I thought that Stuart Townsend was hot. He made a terrible Lestat though). :(

You know, I actually liked the Queen of the Damned movie better than the book. I'm spiteful, because I liked the book a bit, until the end when they... wtff, did they just call a board meeting? What the hell kind of climax is this? O.o

Also, for some reason I could never picture Lestat blond.

These are not good reasons to like the movie better, but at least it was just a clear cut session of vampires and pretty people.

Who were kind of sparkly. I guess they beat Twilight to it?
