Reread Book Review: Daughter of the Blood

So, I read the Black Jewels Trilogy when I was in high school. It's been ten years at least since I read them, and in my memory, they were... not good. They were sort of fun to read, in a trashy, silly way. one reason saro is going to hell, saro is a derelict, dear god she doesn't shut up does she?, masculinity on europa, rambling, saro's doing that thing again, why do you hurt me world?, rantyrants, mockery, fear my feminist rage, meta, contemplating the ceiling, screed, wait is she a troll?

Huh. I guess it really was a good thing that my library as a kid lost the first book of the series. I searched for it, because it did look interesting... but bah. I did, however, enjoy your rant :)

Bad? On, no. The author actually impressed me a bit by remembering that people do not come out of travel smelling like roses. But I'd been reading a lot of badfic at the time, and I've never been as good at this type of thing as you, so I don't know if it was good. Anyway, the main character comes from a matriarchal society, that's why I mentioned it. If you'd like to read it for yourself, it's here.

If you do read it, I'be interested in knowing what you think of it.

...Interesting. I don't normally find matriarchal societies very well written--I'd like them to be, but I'm usually disappointed by the amount of thought that goes into them.

I may check it out. We'll see.XD
