So there's something that's been on my mind for a while now--or, really, two things that have been on my mind that combine fairly nicely to make this post. That's probably because both of them have to do with vampires, sex and depictions of women in literature of questionable quality (read: trashy), all things which are often on my mind

You've said a lot of this stuff to me before, so you know I agree. I enjoy urban fantasy/vampire romance but there does seem to be a formula to it that can get kind of repetitive.

There's also the whole thing with most of them only having one significant female character, and the rest are either side characters or villains. Which I know you don't like, so it would probably turn into an entirely separate rant. XD

Oh, I could write a WHOLE other rant about how there is, apparently, only one good, competent, adult woman in the whole world in most of these books. It would be long. And involve so very many examples.
