I wouldn't say that a semester is enough time to make a true friend either, but it is a good place to get started. Last semester of my senior year is when Beth and I started talking, and now we are hommies and she is totally one of my best pals now. I mean, I am not saying you have to be friends with her - I don't know how you guys feel about each other - I am just saying that it is a good time to plant the seed. Just keep in touch. Maybe it won't even be someone that you have to keep in touch with. Friendships like the ones I have (well, the ones that have lasted) are the kind that last through maybe months without communication. Just make sure you are with the kind of people that understand a busy lifestyle. I don't think you are the kind of person that needs demanding and needy friends. Plus, in college you will make good friends. You will be in an environment with people that have your interests and share your hobbies. I met one of my new favorite pals here - my roommate Danielle. I guess what I am saying is - don't despair, even
