One from a while back, from what turned out to be a compromised friend's YIM account (renamed to avoid embarrassing him). I was unsure and played along for a bit, then the bot utterly failed at the "prove you're really miles" test
( ... )
Yeah, careful, sometimes they'll even get a friend's account and IM you from that.
If you ever put in your AIM password for one of those things before you realize it's a bot, change your AIM password, or they'll be spreading the link from your account too.
I don't know how the quiz ones ask for it, but I remember I kept getting links for an "AIM friend fight" thing, it was some fake AIM game and it asked you to put in your screenname and password to match you up against friends, but the url had nothing to do with AIM (always check the url when putting your password into a website). Just be totally suspicious of anything someone links you that asks you to put in a password, even if it looks like a friend is linking it to you.
I had that happen to me the other day! This girl randomly IMs me and the convo was like...
her: hey me: Hi me: Uh. Do I know you? her: No, I'm just a lonely girl that wants someone to talk to :) Me: Oh. Alright. whateverthefuckherscreennamewas is offline.

And it's especially weird because they always IM that account, and like...I rarely put it out there or anything.
