Today's Decameron story is by Rebecca Kuang, set in her very, very dark fantasy world using as a substrate some of east Asia's most bloody history of the last century. This is the (quite absorbing) prologue to the third book, coming out in November.

I just don't understand why people would still be insisting on face-to-face meetings in this situation when video conferencing exists. It beggars belief. Hope your daughter manages to convince them.
