Call
By: sasakorujjin

Rated: PG
Pairing: KhunYoung/WooHo
Summary: Wooyoung makes a call to Nichkhun, but it’s already too late …

An angsty drabble because … I have never written angst before XD And because of your kind welcome to me, here’s my next fic!

The door swings shut as Wooyoung steps into the frigid air. He wears only a thin layer of clothing but he doesn’t care as the cold wind rips at him. Only one thing mattered right now, and it was the phone right across the street from him. He took one step before he stopped and turned back. If he decided, he could go back, back to the light and the warmth, back to the people who cared about him. Away from all this pain.

Too late now.

He didn’t even remember depositing the money, but he was already dialing the all too familiar number, the frozen phone already pressed against his ear. Wooyoung closed his eyes as he slowly breathed out a clouded puff of fog. The ringing soon drowned out his mind and he wasn’t even sure which one he wanted more, for it to keep ringing, or for him to finally hear his voi-

“Yeoboseyo?” There it was. That sweet voice that Wooyoung used to pawn over. Whose name used to be the only thing that slipped out of Wooyoung’s lips. Who left that day and never came back.

“H-Hyung?” Wooyoung’s breath hitched. He quickly straightened himself up and braced against the wind. His fist tightened as he tried to regain control of his weakening knees. He wasn’t a little boy any more. He had to face this once and for all … or else … he didn’t even know anymore.

“…Wooyoung? Woo, is that you?! Wow, it’s been so long!” As the words reached through, Wooyoung went limp. He couldn’t handle the complete sincerity in the others’ words.

“I-I know right?”

“Hey, are you shivering? Where are you? I can practically hear the wind through the other end of the phone.” Wooyoung’s eyes brightened just a little bit from the other’s concerned voice but they quickly resumed their broken state as he uttered out the next few words.

“N-No. I’m fine. How’s life? With her? Are you-”

“Ah! I’m sorry Wooyoung but she’s sick again. I’ll have to call you back later. Hey, we should hang out one of these days. Ya know, maybe go on a double date? Have you gotten a girlfriend ye- oh sorry! I really have to go.” And with that, a blissful, monotonous, empty dial tone greeted his ears.

“Yeah, me? I’m doing great! Thanks for asking! … Happy Birthday? Thanks so much for remembering hyung! I thought you … forgot.” It was too much. So much for growing up, he chuckled sadly to himself.

“I … I really miss you.” Wooyoung desperately leaned his ear in for an answer he knew was never going to come. He called out as hard as he could, but all that came back was an echo, and it shook him. It seemed every little move he made now was taking a chunk of his life away. But he had to say this … say everything.

“…I waited for you, but you didn’t come back.” Wooyoung slowly edged his back against the wall as he took a deep breath. This was it. He had imagined this moment ever since he met the Thai angel and fallen for him so long ago.

“You are … were the person that was my whole life. I’ve figured that out now, but it doesn’t even matter. I guess this is really the end.” He slowly pulled himself up and reached out to place the phone back onto it’s holder before he stopped. Wooyoung slowly raised it back up to his icy lips.

“Saranghae.” And with that, he collapsed. Wooyoung stared up at the endless sky above him. It was all pitch black except for two stars in the sky. They were positioned close together, so close that they almost seemed to meld. However, he noticed one glaring difference. One was larger, and shining so much brighter than the other. Wooyoung sympathized with it. He understood what it’s like to be so close to something so brilliant that you know you can never catch up to, never be good enough for …

Suddenly, he heard footsteps approaching. Wooyoung hastily got up but immediately relaxed as the familiar figure appeared under the street lamp.

“Hyung.” Junho said calmly. Wooyoung was ready to explain why he was outside in the freezing air in the middle of the night but Junho just smiled. That was enough to finally allow Wooyoung to let everything out. He reached up, wrapped his arms around the younger boy’s neck, and cried into his shoulder. Junho simply hugged the man in front of him as tight as he could.

“He-he-he’s not supposed to be with her!” Wooyoung choked through his tears as Junho just tightened his grip on the vulnerable person in front of him.

“He’s not supposed to be with her! HE SHOULD BE WITH US! … He should be with me.” Wooyoung finished quietly as Junho simply nodded his head. Junho gently rubbed the other’s back, whispering words of comfort, trying to subside the violent shakes coming from the other. He looked up at the two stars in the sky and sighed sadly. Junho turned to look at Wooyoung and then back to the stars in the sky. He only allowed one tear to escape his eye before he set back on concentrating on Wooyoung. After a long while, Wooyoung slowly let go and turned away, not wanting to show his blood-shot eyes.

“…Thanks Junho.” Wooyoung quietly said as his sniffles subsided. He felt a sudden rush of embarrassment at the moment of vulnerability he just displayed.

“It’s ok hyung, that’s what I’m here for.” Junho gave his trademark grin, immediately brightening up Wooyoung’s face.

“Well … thanks. Umm, let’s get inside shall we? Jae will have a fit if either one of us get sick.” He suggested as Junho gave a simple nod. They slowly walked side by side back to the dorm.

“You know Junho, you really are one of my best friends.” Wooyoung stopped as he noticed that Junho’s last step was irregular. But as his dongsaeng continued walking, he wondered, maybe he simply imagined it.

Junho quietly held himself together as they reached the door. As they situated themselves back around the table filled with their friends and family, he finally let his mind drift off. He saw it. The way Wooyoung’s eyes change whenever he talks about Nichkhun. It’s the same look he has whenever he himself think about Wooyoung. But he knew it, deep down inside, that he would never be on the receiving end of that look. Not from Wooyoung. Back outside, when he heard Wooyoung call him his best friend … he didn’t know what he should be feeling. Happier beyond belief, or sadder than his hyung will ever know.

And I’m done. Hmm, so what do you guys think of my first angst fic?
