Summary: They say you shouldn’t run away from life, and Junho might’ve just found the reason to finally stop. AU.

Based off of Tenchi and Ouran slightly.

…How many years have passed since I gave up everything as a detective and left on this endless journey? I’d be lying if I said I had no regrets. But I had no other choice in order to escape from that nightmare. I wandered far and finally ended up in this port town at the end of the world. But somehow, I feel this strange town has in someway, started healing my wounds …

--

The ship departed into the fog as Junho stared out at the empty water, the lone sound of seagulls greeting him. He pulled his coat tighter around him as he picked up his suitcase and looked towards the rural area with soft eyes, taking leave. Soon enough, he was met with a small restaurant and he couldn’t help but feel drawn to it. That, and he realized that during his long sea trip, he still hadn’t eaten anything yet. He was hesitant but he couldn’t stay hungry for much longer.

“Hello there!” A loud voice boomed as he entered the warm restaurant. Junho shyly nodded at the boisterous man in front of him. He took a seat in the rather empty establishment in front of the owner, noticing only one other sitter there. Junho figured it was due to the time, as the early morning fog still hadn’t lift yet.

“What can I do ya for?” he grinned as Junho just stared at him, surprised.

“See! I told you!” The raven haired man also sitting at the counter suddenly hit the chef across from him, stunning Junho.

“What, hyung!?” He turned to him, glaring with his cheeks puffed out, making Junho realize just then how young the spiky haired man really was.

“I told you to stop having a dirty undertone to all your sentences! It makes everyone think you’re a pervert!” the man lectured as Junho quickly raised his hands, stopping the two instantly. That moment, their attention was directed at him. However, under the bore of their eyes, he drew back into his shell of shyness.

“Uhh. Sorry, I didn’t mean anything by it. It’s just that … back where I came from, no one talks like that. And your accent …” Junho scrunched up his face as he searched his memory.

“…Busan?” he guessed quietly.

“I’m impressed. You’re right.” He grinned, the previous atmosphere completely vanishing. The man next to him suddenly stood up and reached over towards the puffy cheeked boy.

“Hyung!” he whined immediately.

“Stop fidgeting Wooyoung.” He spoke in a maternal tone as he fixed the head band Wooyoung was wearing.

“Khun hyung! Wah, I’m old enough to fix my own headband, thank you very much!” he pouted again.

“Wooyoung ah!” Nichkhun suddenly whined as Junho watched on in amazement. These two men, they interested him. While being so troublesome with one another, they radiated a feeling of … warmth.

“Oh, sorry. What were you going to order?” Wooyoung turned back to their unmoving spectator. Junho jumped a little as the two looked over at him and immediately turned his attention to the wall at his right.

“Uhh, South Country Noodles.” He finally decided on after he browsed their offerings.

“All right, one South Country Noodles it is!” Wooyoung announced loudly as a glass of water was gently set in front of Junho. He looked up at the baby-faced man and was met with an incredibly kind smile.

“Are you traveling alone?”

“Well, sort of.” He murmured cautiously.

“Oh, how nice to be able to do that. But why in this little town? Because there’s nothing really to see around hear ya know?” he talked in a simple and soft tone, surprising Junho.

“Well-”

“Maybe you have some secret story to tell us, huh?” he asked with beaming eyes, suddenly leaning in.

“Hyung! You shouldn’t be prying.” Wooyoung said in a singsong tone as he worked the noodles in his hand.

“Oh, it’s alright.” Junho said as Nichkhun leaned on the counter and looked up as if he was remembering something.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if you did. I wouldn’t have ever come to this town if I didn’t have a story myself.” He said fondly as Wooyoung sighed.

“Ah well, there he goes again.” He grinned as he worked the water. Suddenly, the door slid open to reveal another dark-haired male.

“Hah! Hyung, there you are.” A very tall teenager with glaring eyes marched toward Nichkhun and practically glowered down at him.

“Nichkhun hyung! You shouldn’t be loitering here like this, we have our own diner to open ya know!”

“Yea yea, I know.” Nichkhun sighed.

“It must be hard on you, huh Chansung.” Wooyoung grinned as Nichkhun knocked them both on the head.

“Here you are, South Country Noodles.” Wooyoung laid a steaming bowl proudly in front of Junho.

“…Wow.” He simply gasped as he saw the giant crab adorning the large bowl of noodles. There was even a little flag in its claw, signifying the south country. Junho took a bite of the noodles and a sip of the soup before he looked at it in amazement.

“Daebak.” He said simply, making the other two laugh.

“So tell us, are you planning on staying in town for awhile?” Wooyoung asked simply. It was said in such an honest tone that Junho didn’t think before answering.

“I guess. It looks like a nice place … to live.” He finished quietly.

“Yea, it’s a great town.” Chansung said in a sarcastic mutter, making Junho smile. Suddenly, he stopped before he pulled out his wallet. He realized he barely had enough to pay for his meal.

“Hmm, I don’t mean to be forward, but do you think I could get a job around here?”

“Ah, so you’re looking for a job.” Nichkhun said as he looked over at Chansung, before smiling simply.

“You should come work at our place.” He offered as Chansung simply sighed.

“Huh?”

“Ya know, we run a tavern right near here. It’s a small place that the local fishermen eat and drink at.” Nichkhun explained as he suddenly turned towards Chansung with prepared puppy eyes that made the latter twitch slightly.

“Well, we could use the help …”

“That’d be great!” Wooyoung chimed in as Junho scrunched up his forehead in quick thought.

“Well, if it’s not an imposition, that’d be great.” He said, surprised by the sudden resounded yells of happiness.

“Well come on, it’s not that far from here.” Nichkhun grinned.

--

“Junho!” Nichkhun’s voice boomed, awakening Junho from the room he rented in the back of the tavern that he was now working at.

“Yea?” he called out quickly, struggling to sleepily crawl up before the blankets wrapped around his ankles and dragged him to the ground. Junho tried clawing his way out before the door slid open and he slowly brought his head up to the grinning man above him.

“Nice sleep?” he asked, amused at the slow head nod he got.

“Great. Get dressed, time for you to meet the locals.” Nichkhun grinned as Junho stared up at him in confusion. Soon enough, he stumbled outside before he quickly regained composure as he met with the three men in front of him.

“Junho,” Nichkhun smiled, walking behind Junho and squeezing his shoulders attentively, straightening his back. “Meet Jin Young hyung, Taecyeon hyung, and the village idiot-”

“Hey!” the smallest of the trio interjected in a small accent before Nichkhun simply ignored him.

“Jaebum hyung.” He finished as Junho swallowed a lump in his throat. The first simply gave off the aura of a powerful man, but he couldn’t help but notice that his face was rather different … and frightening. The second was probably one of the tallest men he had ever encountered and the third was probably one of the shortest. They were all very muscular, making him clutch his loose clothes closer to his body ever so slightly, and they were all very intimidating.

“Hello. I’m Junho.” He bowed awkwardly as Nichkhun slapped him on the back playfully. Junho suddenly swallowed as the large man named Taecyeon came towards him. He immediately felt empty as the familiar presence of Nichkhun behind him was gone.

“Welcome!” he bellowed with a deep voice, flashing a giant grin that Junho wasn’t sure whether he was to be afraid of or amazed, as he was pulled in a deep hug. Junho blushed, not really seeing the reason for this sudden act of kindness but he embraced it nonetheless.

“Jin Young.” The other man introduced in a fatherly yet surprisingly high tone, showing his older age as Junho awkwardly gave him a handshake from within the arms of the other beastly man, before he was finally set free.

“I know my face may look like a gorilla but don’t let it scare you.” He said with a comical smile, making Junho feel safe enough give a light chuckle.

“Hey, take that back!” Junho turned at the sudden voice of Nichkhun.

“Make me.” Jaebum smirked with his hands making an inviting motion. Soon enough, they were wrestling each other on the ground, yelling obscenities in a language Junho didn’t understand. He took a step forward with a worried expression on his face but felt a heavy hand on his shoulder stopping him.

“Nah, don’t worry about those two. They’ve been like that since … well actually, they’ve been like that since they both came here.” Taecyeon looked up in thought.

“Really? They came here together?” Junho asked, not able to resist his curiosity.

“Yea, not only those two. Nichkhun wandered in one day with Jaebum and Wooyoung in tow. Chansung also came in one day and he has been under the care of Nichkhun ever since.” Jin Young added as Junho mewled over his newfound knowledge of his boss.

“And it looks like he’s taken you in too.” Junho’s eyes widened at what Taecyeon had suddenly said. He hadn’t realized it until right now that what he said was true. His attention was drawn back by a loud battle cry as he saw Jaebum had Nichkhun in a headlock and was nuggying him mercilessly.

“Umm, let’s go fishing now shall we?” Taecyeon smiled that wide smile of his as he and Jin Young headed to the set of motor bikes that Junho just realized was set on the side of the wall.

“…We’re going fishing?” Junho asked and it was then that he also realized they had brought 5 fishing poles.

--

“…And that’s how you do it.” Nichkhun demonstrated as Junho sat against the large crates behind him, nodding slowly in comprehension. He stared around the misty area and realized that he hadn’t arrived there more than a few days ago and yet here he was again. Jin Young lay against a crate himself as his fishing rod was propped up close to the edge of the pier. The moment the rod wiggled, he brought it up in all one swift motion as a fish cleanly deposited himself in a bucket the man had already prepared earlier. Taecyeon himself had a way of fishing, Junho noticed. The moment he felt a tremor, Taecyeon would unleash his mighty roar and pull it up without a hint of struggle.

“Conspiracy!” Jaebum yelled suddenly, making the entire pier laugh, including Junho. His way of fishing was different. He waited it out. If the pull wasn’t strong enough, he didn’t even bother, even if it meant losing bait. Jaebum only pulled if he thought it was big. And with that mentality, he usually fished up the biggest fish in the town, but then again, it meant many of broken lines, as what just happened right now.

“Why does he insist on trying to catch only the big ones?” Junho asked as he slowly got up and walked next to Nichkhun.

“I’m not sure. I think it’s his whole height complex thing.” Nichkhun said as they watched Jaebum curse out at the ocean once again. Nichkhun handed his fishing pole to Junho and led him to his previous spot.

“Ah.” Junho nodded simply, taking a hand at fishing for the first time. He reeled his arm back and tossed it into the ocean successfully, earning a happy applause from Nichkhun. Junho grinned proudly himself as he suddenly felt a pull.

“Uhh … what do I do?” he asked as Nichkhun stopped and stared at him. He remembered that he had forgotten to teach Junho how to actually reel in a fish. And soon enough, the tug got harder and harder.

“Hyung?” he called out nervously now before he felt a pair of strong arms wrap around his waist. Junho enjoyed the sudden warmth for only a split second before the next tug was strong enough that it sent both of them toppling over the edge and into the frigid lake. But as quickly as the cold pierced through his clothes, he felt a strong arm tug him out of the water.

“Are you ok?” A worried voice called out to him as Junho hacked the water out of his lungs. Suddenly, a towel was placed around him and wrapped so tightly he could barely move.

“Jeez man, are you ok?” Junho’s eyed widened as Jaebum pulled off Nichkhun’s shirt and showed off his totally, ripped, body. He shouldn’t have been able to blush as he was freezing at the moment, but he somehow managed it.

“You should close that mouth.” Taecyeon said with a laugh as Junho quickly clasped it shut, not even realizing that it was open.

“You guys wait here, I’ll go get the bike.” Jaebum muttered as he caught the keys thrown by Jin Young and headed off.

“Uhh … we should go clean up our stuff.” Taecyeon suggested as Jin Young agreed and they headed off to the other side of the pier. A silence settled over them as Junho tried not to look at the other man.

“Umm … hyung?” Junho called out.

“Yea?”

“…Sorry I dragged you into the water. And ruined the trip.” He said quietly.

“It’s ok.” And Nichkhun surprised him with a laugh as he walked towards the younger man and sat next to him.

“That was pretty fun actually.” He smiled, easing Junho.

“So … umm, Jaebum hyung. He seemed worried.”

“Yea. He’s like that. I mean, you’ve probably noticed, that we fight a lot, ya know? But it’s never serious. He cares a lot more about me than he shows. He cares a lot about all of us, he just doesn’t show it in the regular way.” Nichkhun said with a small smile as Junho nodded. As a cold wind passed however, he couldn’t help but shiver.

“Ahha, sorry.” Junho apologized again. And to his complete and utter surprise, and delight, Nichkhun slowly unwrapped his blanket, sat in front of Junho, and rewrapped both of them together.

“Don’t want you to get sick.” Nichkhun replied simply as he pressed their foreheads together to gather warmth. Their heads were facing down so the towels wouldn’t fall from their shoulders, and Junho couldn’t help but stare at the magnificent chest that was right in front of him.

“Wait, your face is getting warm. Are you getting sick?” Nichkhun said with worry as he reached forward and cupped Junho’s blushing cheeks. He was awestruck as he realized how close they were and all he could manage was a shake of the head.

“Hey guys!” Jaebum called out as Junho quickly fell back in surprise.

“Uhh, time to go.” He said simply, pointing to the bike behind him as Junho got up with an awkward cough while Nichkhun simply smiled.

“Wait.” Jaebum suddenly said as Nichkhun got closer.

“What?”

“You’re not riding on my bike with your wet pants man.”

“Why?”

“They’re going to leave a stain.”

“So what do you want me to do? Take them off?”

“Yes.”

“…Fine.” And with that, Junho coughed again for a completely different reason.
