my grocery store has been close to empty for the longest time. it's a pretty large one so one would think they'd re-stock. it is odd.

Strange indeed. You'd expect large stores to have pretty much everything. It's apparently normal for gluten free or other such special food that they're either old or all sold, but normal food should be available (unlike in Leeuwarden where empty shelves were normal). After months I still haven't seen fresh gluten free bread although they're delivered to some stores twice a week. Some people maybe order it with their name and fetch it regularly, which I wouldn't like to do either.
