Just a quick drive-by to check in with everyone, in light of what is happening in Ukraine if there is a mass exodus from LJ to Dreamwidth, do any of my friends out there have Dreamwidth accounts that I can follow, and is there any Supernatural communities that I can go and lurk in *G

I am considering deletion. I have an AO3. Currently only here if it can prove useful in the event that ((Russia)) restricts social media and it is needed in that event. Whatever happens, iin the light of world banking etc being restricted to ((Russia)) I would recommend ensuring that any banking data etc is entirely secure, your account is not linked and any bank card you may have used for a subscription is cancelled. Retaliations come in all forms.

I'll be here until they turn out the lights, but it's good to have a backup in case! Although, the last entries I've been able to import date back to 2017. So if something happens I'll be losing a far bit of content.

On Dreamwidth with the same username - I'm keeping LJ for the time being as I don't have a paid account so don't feel bad for giving Russians my money, but I can see the whole thing might collapse soon...Which sucks for all the communities that have posts here and whose admins might have moved on so won't be around to save the content.

I've checked and I'm friends with you over on Dreamwidth, I hope LJ doesn't vanish but to be honest I'm not holding out much hope for its long-term future. I just hope we can build new communities on Dreamwidth

I find DW very restrictive. It's free membership only allows me to get 25 notifications in total, which is literally a 10th of LJs. I really need prompting and LJ does it perfectly by emailing me when friends and comms post. DW is effing rubbish for that. And the paid account still doesn't give me much more, which is why I'm reluctant to give them my dosh.

I'm not the world's greatest with social media sights, but you're right about DW being restrictive. As I've said before I'm staying put here until they turn the lights out, and that's when I'll fully migrate to DW.

I'm over there as sasha_dragon and I haven't posted over there since 2017 as well. I've tried to import my journal entries, but it keeps failing so if anything happens I'll be losing five years of entries.

The forums all say keep trying, sometimes imports are working. But LJ seems to be blocking a lot of the interactions they used to allow with DW.
I've imported successfully a couple of months ago so since the crossposting stopped working I've been copying and pasting instead. You could always try that on an ad hoc basis for things you are most worried about losing.

I'll keep trying to import my entries and if nothing happens I'll look through and see which ones I'm desperate to keep and move them manually.

I've just checked and we're friends over on Dreamwidth as well *G*. My account is paid up until September, so unless there's a disaster I'll be staying put for the foreseeable future 😀

I know what you mean about the site being a bit wobbly, I've tried to import my journal entries and it keeps falling 🤦

DW charges way too much for very little benefit. They desperately need to update!

Personally I love LJ and am going to stay. I am holding my nose on the politics. I love all the fic and art still here.
