Saw Black Swan last night. Still completely obsessing over it, a good 24 hours later. Must see it again. It's been a long time since a movie screamed at me like that. Screamed. If you could choose to experience happiness even when you know that it won't last, or that it might precede total despair, would you still choose it? Or would you rather live with, as you once said, "consistent mediocrity"? I think I would choose the happiness, no matter how transient. Those days in ballet were not only some of your happiest and most rewarding, they also taught you more than you describe here and you know it. The lessons from your spotlights and dramas and creations may not manifest themselves on a daily basis, but the memories make you strive for more in your life. The sense of purpose you experienced in ballet (and in college) remind you of what you want in life, no matter what cause or show you are working on. It matters little what you do, so long as you feel that it is important and is a challenge of your capacity to influence the world. Having felt that before, in any magnitude, you know what to look for now. Don't let the nostalgia grind on the importance of your present accomplishments--it's only a sign of a ( ... )
