Avengers! Assemble!

Well, I finally watched the movie. Probably half the planet has already, but this is normal for me. Aside from not having the time to go, my circle of friends aren't movie nuts and prefer to watch them of DVDs when I prefer to enjoy the big screen version.

So anyway, I made time today to go watch it with my brother. And...

it's a nice way to fill up an hour and a half. Nice effects, nice visuals, funny banter sometimes.

I'm miffed that one, I did not recognise Hawkeye. I'm used to a Hawkeye with a mask, okay? And I never got any Hawkeye comics when I was a kid, so yes, I'm a little upset I didn't recognise him in the movie.

Second, the characters. Actually, none of the Avengers in this movie are my favourite Marvel characters so I guess the movie experience was just so-so with me. The Black Widow was a very pleasant surprise, though. she kicked so much ass and is 100% better than the comics' version of the character. Kudos! Captain America... nope, never was a fan of that character from the very beginning (of my comics age).

Thirdly, WTH did they do to Nick Fury???? LOL! Talk about creative license :)

Fourth, Thor and Loki. Where are my Godlings from Asgard???? These were watered-down versions, to me. There was none of the angst, guilt, passion or menace from either of them that I'd always associated with the comicbook versions. A little disappointed there. Plus... Thor's hair....where are the long and flowing blond locks that never fell out of place? Instead I see Loki's little turned-up curls all over the place, haha!

Fifth, awesome CGs, awesome character designs on the aliens, flying stuff and costumes. And Ironman's armour...WOAH!!! I never liked Tony Stark, but I could learn to like that armour...

Sixth... why do I see Bleach references in this movie? Whyyyy?

And finally, HULK SMASH!!! The Hulk literally stole the show, okay? Dr. Banner was a little insipid, but his HULK? Whahahahhaa! Again, the Hulk is not a favourite character, but how can you not like this greenie in this movie? He stomped and whomped and made mincemeat out of so much alien ass! LOLOL! Isn't it sad that out of all the actors in this movie, my favourites are digital ones? LOL!

Soo... that was how I spent my afternoon. Enjoyed the movie, yes, most definitely. But I'd still recommend people to read the comics if they REALLY want to know the Avengers.

*grumbles* I want my comicbook Loki, not this wannabe imposter... *grumbles*
