I'm doing the music for a Halloween party at the university... have a few tracks, need suggestions. Songs must be suitably Gothic and danceable without being annoyingly poppy [example]. Depeche Mode kind of stuff = also good.

Many thanks if you can help. :)

I'm sure a few Voltaires are dancy.
Ris party had a song by Aquagen called "Why are you so quiet" with lines like "And God saw the people dancing".
There's also a techno remix of the Nightmare on Elm Street theme floating around out there that's pretty good..
And beyond that, you might score a few geek points by doing a CD of tracks from oc-remix.org (video game music, remixed.)

Have Voltaire. And Rammstein too, as I'm sure you were wondering. :P

Thank you! Link looks good... this is a very big maths/engineering university, so video game geeks are abundant. And yes, I realize I'm stereotying, but it's *true*, dammit. LOL.

You can't really dance to Rammste-- wait. Yes, you can. The Amerika remixes. You can dance to those. Also the Mein Teil ones that Arthur Baker and the Petshop boys did.

Actually, there are a lot of dancy 'Stein remixes.

Some original songs, too. I think 'Ich Will' could work...

You can never go wrong with "Tainted Love".

Can't believe I forgot that one! Yet again, where my memory fails, you succeed... ;P

Thanks! :)

Cygnus X-1

;)

In all seriousness, I imagine Alice Cooper and AFI would serve the purpose well.

Haha, I'd LOVE to see people dance to that one. ;P

Yeah, I think later Cooper and mid/late AFI are good ideas... didn't know you were an AFI fan. :)

I'd love to see that as well.

Indeed, I haven't listened to them in forever, not nearly as much as I used to. In any case both should serve the purpose quite well.

I'd imagine The Smiths and The Cure would work as well, although I'm not too familiar with either. Possibly some Smashing Pumpkins could work as well.

The Smiths and The Cure are both good ideas... I already have a couple of Cure songs on there, and I'll be doing some further investigation of the Smiths. :)
