pancakes, pancakes, rah, rah, rah!

Lent, the season of deprivation that I have so much affection for, arrives on the scene really early this year - February 6th.  I’m having a Pancake Tuesday dinner the night before.  It’s on, you know, a Tuesday, so I was expecting maybe ten takers.  I just checked and I have a confirmed guest list of something just over twenty.

That sounds like such a good idea! I think if it's ok with you, I'll steal it?

Also, does your family put apple jam or chocolate chips or blueberries in your pancakes? My Seattle friends all do this- at first it was blasphame, but it's grown on me!

Do steal! It's actually really fun and such a tradition in our group that almost everyone gives up something for Lent.

I put nothing in the pancakes - though I am thinking of making a berry sauce if anything looks good at the market. This area is known for maple syrup and I like that flavour to really come through.

A bit of apple sauce and cinnamon can be nice additions to pancakes, in my pancakey experience. Mmmmm!
