Economic downturns make me spend more money

I think that I get panicky that I may not have money to spend in the near to distant future, and want to spend some now, while I still have the chance. Here’s a quick round up of things I have bought that have brought me varying degrees of pleasure:

A record player

It is! I actually put off buying it for months, but now that I have it, I think it was worth it. There's no point in eating a cold sandwich.

For me, it works rather differently. My job situation is pretty secure for the time being (at least until the next provincial election in 2011) so I have no big barrier to spending... but I'm holding off on some purchases anyway (such as the digital SLR camera I want). Why? Well, I figure that pretty soon more people will realize they've overextended themselves, and will be dumping stuff like that on the secondhand market at bargain prices. Of course, if everyone adopted this strategy we'd have a deflationary spiral in no time...

Ah -- I never seem to want anything that`s in style, so it`s very unlikely to get dumped.
