[OOC] The Dream

Jun 20, 2009 20:12

She was standing alone - a blond woman wearing pink and black. She was armed and tense, as though anticipating danger. The scene around her was so strange. It was a city with buildings that surrounded her, and yet the city somehow seemed… empty. Devoid of life, devoid of people, devoid of everything that made it a city. She wrapped her arms around herself, as though she had felt a sudden chill descend upon her.

Yes, there was something strange about this, but she could not put her finger on what it was. Narrowing her eyes in confusion, she stared upwards and around her, not immediately comprehending what her eyes were taking in. Time seemed to pass in painfully slow increments until the knowledge of what she saw came to her, in such a sudden way that she could have sworn the air was driven out of her lungs. What she had finally realized was that not only was the city completely empty, but the entire area was draped in an ominous cloud of darkness. What the darkness represented, she could only guess at, but some inner instinct told her that the darkness meant evil.

She was so focused on the darkness that she failed to notice the figure dressed entirely in red that was coming towards her, his movements focused and inexorably bent on coming closer. It wasn’t until he was but a few paces away that she finally registered his approach. She opened her mouth to ask who he was, but the words never were formed. The figure, intimidating and tall, raised a hand and struck at her twice with a sword, sending her crashing to the ground where she lay, unable to stand up. The attacker leered down at her defenseless form, and said with a sneer, “You and all the others are failures,” as he sheathed his sword and walked away, leaving her to whatever fate awaited her.
As she lay there, injured from the unknown man’s attack, silhouettes of people materialized from the darkness, and with hushed whispers began calling to her. She couldn’t hear what they were saying, but somehow that didn’t seem important. What was important, however, were the appearances of the silhouettes.

There was a man, tall and dark-skinned, with hair styled in an odd way (she couldn’t help but think that he needed to do something else with his hair - that look was so unattractive), and a smile, friendly and warm, on his face. He was clothed in red, but she wasn’t afraid of him. Standing next to him was a man in blue, with spiked hair and a serious countenance; somehow, though, she could tell that he was concerned about her. Slightly behind him were two others, a man with a goofy grin and a woman with dark hair and warm brown eyes. The man was in green and the woman was in yellow.

The silhouettes of the man in red and the woman in yellow then stepped forward to where she lay on the ground, both of them extending their hands to her. But she couldn’t find the strength to grasp their hands, and so the silhouettes knelt down and helped pull her to her feet. They didn’t speak, but somehow she heard words being said, spoken simultaneously by the man and woman. “You are our friend, and whatever anyone says, you are not a failure.”

Then, the silhouettes of the three men and one woman faded away, triggering a reaction that drove the darkness away, only to be replaced by sunlight so bright that she was nearly blinded.

And then that was the end of the dream, and she felt herself beginning to awaken.
