Title: Step From Where You're Standing Characters: House, Wilson Rating: PG-13 Words: 3,900 Summary: Wilson helps House decide on a career path. Part of a series of post-finale Tiny House stories.
Goody! I get to be the first person who reads this!
Such a great series...sigh...the images of House and Wilson are so vivid and well-detailed. Not to mention the banter being completely IC. "Yoga hussy"--heh.
I have wondered why House isn't climbing the tiny walls with boredom after all of this time. Yes, he's looking after Wilson, but a mind that thinks as incessantly as his does might need something else to obsess about. This story really brought that to light.
Maybe House should take a yoga class, and deliberately fall down during the first class and then sue them. Damn fake name!
Ah - I was just thinking about this series a couple of days ago and wondering how the guys were faring in their tiny House! Great to see more of it, and a wonderfully funny/angsty combination as always.
Wilson's hesitation when House told him he didn't have to 'take care of his problem' by himself was priceless, because we all know hat he's thinking (well, I assume we all know ;) even if House doesn't. I wonder if he was disappointed or relieved when House suggested the hookers?
And House being a P.I - yes! Great solution to the 'what will House do' problem. Because if there is one thing House is good at it's sticking his nose into other people's business. And of course Wilson will be his Watson :)
Love the mention of Wilson's parents (and House's Mom), as sad as it is. And over everything is the shadow of Wilson's continuing medical problems, because remission does not mean cured, and he (they) have to live with the fear of the cancer returning and the continuing side effects of treatment.
I wonder if he was disappointed or relieved when House suggested the hookers?
I think he felt both, which is why he had a mini-freak-out and hightailed it to the garden :)
Yeah, I figured the issue of House's mom and Wilson's parents has to come up. I find the whole scenario of House *having* to pretend his dead -- and Wilson essentially choosing to pretend he is, too (at least to the people in his 'old' life) -- pretty interesting.
The shows been over for a year, and I still want to know what happened with the duck. lol. I like how you applied it here.
The ENTIRE masturbation conversation had me laughing out loud. I could hear the two of them in my head. How you always have them so vividly IC always astounds me.
Very well done and I can't wait to read if/how the whole PI/musician thing plays out. :-)
Such a great series. If this was a real episode I'd watch it a hundred times. But then I wouldn't know what House was thinking, so this is better.
Wilson eyed him. “Seriously? You don’t know how to dig for the truth? You don’t know how to tell the truth? You don’t know how to invade people’s privacy?” I loved the reasons why House would make a great P.I. He would!
Gotta say the Masturbate-a-Thon was new to me and knocked my socks off. What a start to your latest installment. Hope there won't be a long wait for the next part.
Another Tiny House fic! I've been missing this series. :)
The PI idea is brilliant. He'd be perfect at it and it would hold his interest.
I was surprised that House didn't have a new ssn. That's got to make things very difficult.
House's comment on the likelihood of Wilson being more honest with himself and other people made me laugh.
I love that in this series you've put Wilson into remission, but its not a cure-all and he's not well. The neuropathy, the weakness, the way he's flailing about to regain his emotional footing with these yoga books and changes in lifestyle...It all strikes me as very realistic.
In my mind, they (or Wilson) would think it was too dangerous for House to use a fake SSN, or steal one. So I left him SSN-less -- and yep, that makes life very tough. But yes, I think House could make a great P.I. He'll just need to stay out of trouble with the law. Hmm.

Yes, I think House will make an excellent P.I. I'm just not sure what kind of clients he'll stumble upon in Sebastopol ;)
