I like that downsizing is in fashion and McMansions are out. But having spent some time in small apartments, I can say that I literally used to dream that mine was larger. I had a repeating dream where were a few other rooms, including a second and much large kitchen (i.e., it was an actual room and not two appliances in a hallway), through an archway in my apartment. Sadly in the waking world that archway was a wall.

My last apartment actually had archways leading to the kitchen and living room (entirely separate rooms, not even a railroad!). I gave it up to move to a tiny room, and I actually don't miss the big space. What I would love to have, though, is some outdoor space -- other than public parks.
