A/N: This is the final installment (OK, I changed my mind) in a series of post-finale road trip stories that began in Virginia. Despite the title, this is NOT a death fic.

I feel like I'm reading a mystery, with all the little hints we're supposed to make sense of, like Wilson mostly coughing in the shower, his crossing the street carefully and being on a diet (although I doubt Italian cancer patients are advised to avoid wine and fried food). I am only sad to know that the end is near.

Other tiny detail that stays with me: Wilson pretending he chose the bungalow because it's cute, and House having been so taken by Wilson that he didn't even notice the song playing in the bar. The transition between memory and present day was very perfect, and the image of Wilson dancing too cute.

And, of course, there's the main character, the American South I will probably never see if not vicariously. Thank you so much, and I second taiga's request.

Arggh - both a cliffhanger and a brilliant last line and observation by House, that this is what it would be like when Wilson is gone. Very nicely done. Great atmosphere as always with the main issue always being there, whether in the background or in House's pointed observations. Now I would like to know the answer to House's question - why is Wilson so keen to believe in everything but hope for himself? Looking forward to the next part.

I love this, especially the little details, I wanted to send Wilson some Dr. Bronner's lemon soap, and your descriptions of New Orleans are so evocative! I've been there, it was great.

I made a livejournal account just to tell you that this is one of the best fanfics i have ever read (and trust me I've read a lot). The way you describe the locations and the House/Wilson banter is spot on. You make me want to visit all of these places! I'm really sad to hear this is the second to last part of the series but glad there is going to be a part two. I hope you continue writing other House and Wilson stories after you complete this one. You're a great writer and I'd love to read them. :)
