Let's see, the last time I posted was back in November. Wow, that a long time even for me. So what have I been up to since then you ask? Well, I finished my online classes for my teaching certification, and now I'm almost done with my internship (I have a week and a half left).
One thing I have learned during my internship is that apathy has become a major epidemic among today's youth. The kids just don't seem to care about anything. They don't care about their grades, they don't care about the world around them, and they definitely don't care about their future. They're just coasting through life. Welcome to the jaded post 9/11 generation. Kids who have grown up witnessing the aftermath of 9/11: the war, the incompetence of our government, and the trashiness of today’s cultural icons. I mean how are you suppose to push the importance of an education when the biggest stars in Hollywood are idiots like Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. But I could go on for hours ranting about today's culture (maybe my next lj rant). The point is that these kids are our future and with all the problems in this country apathy is the last thing we need. They say that a great teacher inspires, but how do you inspire people who don't care about anything?
