First songfic I've ever written.
And REALLY, I honestly think this song was specifically written for Sasuke and Naruto. It describes their relationship and what they've been through perfectly. Listen to it
NOW. The song is called "Running from Lions" and is what inspired this fic.
Title: Don't Forget We've Got Unfinished Business
Author: Moi
Rating: PG
Pairing: Vague SasuNaru
Genre: Angst/General -- Somewhere along the way this turned into an obscure poem.
Disclaimer: I don't own the song OR Naruto.
Get me out of this place, before I cause more damage.
A small price to pay for building houses out of matchsticks.
The minute Sasuke leaves for The Sound - bitterness and resentment bubbling beneath his skin - the regret he almost felt for leaving was easily squashed by the anger he felt towards Naruto.
For. Making. Him. Like. This.
For caring. Believing. Wanting. Hoping.
When none of it would help him get back what he lost.
And when things get too hot,
you've got me to blame.
When he realizes Sasuke is gone, Naruto doesn't know whether to be hurt or angry.
It doesn't really matter because he ends up being both.
For every fire that breaks out,
in every lover's name.
And - no matter how much he knows Sasuke will think him stupid for doing it - he can only do one thing - go after him.
Sell me out I'm yesterday's old news,
phrases left on paper.
Sasuke's blank stare - empty as it is - speaks volumes.
And he can't do anything but clench his fist and swing.
Black ink bleeding through,
The pages where we made our history.
Their battle leaves scars on more than just them.
Huge chunks of rock, chipped off from cliffs, are littered everywhere. The occasional crater marred the ground, and the limestone walls stood cracked and ready to fall apart.
Kind of like them.
Call me foolish,
I feel hopeless...
And when Naruto wakes up and realizes he isn't dead - he starts to understand something.
Like a dear in the headlights
I won't know what hit me.
All that's really left for him to hold onto is the scarred metal seal, cold and smooth beneath his fingers, and the prospect that maybe there is hope afterall.
Running from lions
never felt like such a mistake.
Now all there is to think about is when they'll meet again. And hopefully maybe then Sasuke will regret what he did.
Running from lions
never felt like such a mistake.
And between the fading memories that rewind repeatedly in his head, and nights he spends restless seeing Sasuke's face while in bed
Naruto realizes that killing Itachi is everything to Sasuke. He made it become his life.
Running from lions
never felt like such a mistake.
And though, Naruto doesn't realize it, it's ironic that saving Sasuke has suddenly become his life.
Running from lions

All that Sasuke has to give Naruto after 3 years is a blank stare and some speech about a "broken bond".
He knew it wasn't going to be easy, but he didn't think it was going to be this hard.
Don't forget, we've got unfinished business,
stories yet to unfold,
tales that must be retold.
& I regret not knowing
when to put an
end to all this madness
Fists collide and words lie aside, as the battle between apathy and passion continues.
But neither can ever win, can they?
Keeps me wanting,
keeps me wanting more...
But until then, it'll never end.
Someday he'll stop trying, but Sasuke knows that he won't.
"Stop saying you want to kill me, cause` I know that you don't!"
And the words will keep flying
the fists will keep colliding --
and maybe eventually Sasuke will realize how running away from Naruto was the biggest mistake he ever made.
Still working on part 3 of Stay for the Sunlight. Thanks for the love.
