I've always been one of those guys who shook his head at people who hang on too long. You know the ones. The aging ballplayer trying to squeak one more season out of his knees that have no cartilege in them, trying to play that one more season with a back that contorts him like a pretzel every time he moves. Um, I haven't forgotten. I've kept you around on my flist for ages hoping for another pearl to be dropped.

As for reaching the end ... you're 27 for (heaven's?) sake, you've barely started! You'd never guess what kind of an insane year I had at 37, or all of the stuff that happened after I turned thirty. this was beautiful.

may i offer a slightly different perspective?

time isn't linear. therefore you can never truly know your life's real value. and the very fact that we never *really* know just what will happen in the next five seconds means we never really know our full legacy until our time is up, and even then, unless you've lived a life from start to finish in complete isolation on top of a mountain in a cave, you never really know how you've touched people, or how many lives you've affected. i know that saying that is approaching sappiness (if not already there), but you sounded down, and i just wanted to offer a different viewpoint from one of the most cynical people i've ever met (me).

Deep. Moving. Powerful. Some other superlatives often heard in movie reviews.

Frankly, it's a rocking message and something to think about. Thank you.
