Oh, Highway 61 Revisited. Two four six seven tracks in and I already <3 you so much. So very much. So far I've been blown the fuck away by every album of his I've bought so far (on CD; haven't sufficiently investigated my two albums on vinyl). I think that with careful planning I can keep up that string of epiphanies for a very long time yet =P .

God, I used to just lay down with my eyes closed listening to that song over and over again. And the "pull back" in the final verse to reveal the reality behind the images is probably the best psychologically-visual moment in rock history.
(He attempts something similar in the guilty-pleasure Black Diamond Bay from Desire, and though it works quite well there, too, Black Diamond Bay is no Desolation Row.)
I think I need to dig out Highway 61. It's been too long since I've listened to it, and I love that you're experiencing Dylan in your own way, at your own pace, and coming to the same emotional conclusions (if not the same specific conclusions) that I did.
Oh, and, please, by all means, don't be shy about posting any of those specific conlcusions or interpretations of yours. I'd love to read them.
