I just watched "Chest of Silver" today!

This is a lovely story, with excellent voices and splendid use of Victorian language. Of course, the whole affair would bother Bunny; he is pair's conscience after all. And trust Raffles to logic his way into Bunny's heart!

Thanks, I hoped to get the voices and language right. And yes, Raffles always uses his 'logic' on Bunny!

Lovely! Thank you for this! Bunny's qualms, as well as his inability to resist Raffles were completely believable, and the language and atmosphere - yes!

I like the idea of Raffles planning to practise his Scots on Mackenzie.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm chuffed! Sometimes I wonder if Hornung was making digs at his brother-in-law with his 'Scotch' characters.

Nice story! Bunny sounds nicely Victorian. Typical of him, though, to angst over the lesser of their "crimes"! I'm glad Raffles pointed out the contradiction to him. :)

Next time we meet Inspector McKenzie I'll speak to him in his own language.

Lol! Have you seen the Silver Chest episode of the TV series? Raffles does just that, and it's hilarious. :D

Thanks! I've only seen short clips of the TV series, so I haven't seen this episode. I wonder why Raffles would speak in Scots to Mackenzie though, unless he was in disguise as a fellow 'Scotchman'?

Well, in the TV series, Mackenzie has a much larger role and is often on Raffles's tail. In that episode, he spends a lot of time harrassing Bunny about Raffles's whereabouts, and gets him to tell Raffles to telephone him as soon as he returns from "Scotland". Raffles does so, and conducts the entire conversation in Scots, which irritates Mackenzie a fair bit. *g*

Yay, I love Raffles and his elastic morals! Poor Bunny will never stand a chance against him, never. :)))

I really enjoyed this story - you caught the characters and the atmosphere perfectly. And their amorous contortions were a delight to read! :))

Your icon - is that an image of a pack of Sullivans?
Thanks for your feedback. It was a delight writing about their amorous contortions!
