is there and actual solid date for the 'fall' of rome? i was thinking about this the other day... there is the absolute founding...and i wasn't sure if there was a day of the collapse of the west. i mean, i know the calendar date. (i think) AD476. but is there a date? i'd figure you would know
i'm sure he does know, but i'll reply anyway. the "fall" of Rome is like hair loss - it happened gradually and thus is also commonly referred to as the 'decline of rome'. one of the most debated issues in history. some say socio-economic decline, some say it gradually became medieval europe others say the military fell apart. wow this is bad wording, i am really tired.i think the date AD 476 is sorta arbitrary some say. the roman period is somethin' like 55 bc to 449 ad. but yeah sure nuff dr diroll with affirm the thing in question.
If there is one, I don't know it. The fall took place over the span of several years, as the capital moved around. The last capital was, interestingly enough, Ravenna.
