You don't need to decide anything yet, it's just an interview. Go up there with an open mind and spirit and see how things resonate with you.

Good luck!

you're already asking yourself "what if I do it?"
if that doesn't give conclusive answers, then ask yourself "what if I don't do it". That might give you more perspective at some point.
And as mentioned above, no rush. Going up there will give you more input.

Go to Portland with an open mind and don't worry about any decisions until you've checked out the job.

The only tip I'd give you now is not to let a possible job at the Exploratorium get in the way of your life now.

Already some good advice. I will echo the sentiment of not making any decisions until you've checked out the job. Stay open-minded.

Portland is a really nice town. I was thinking of moving there. I know some really fantastic people that live there. No, it's not SF, but it is a beautiful city with a vibrant arts community and decent places to eat.

There's a huge comics and illustration community up in Portland. The rent is cheap, and so many folks are up there, I think that as long as you were to get involved in that, you could keep forward motion towards becoming an illustrator. It's impossible to spend time with others who have the bug without sitting down at the drawing board yourself, no? For me, Portland is like APE but... all the time. And that's exciting!

Granted, I'm back living in the Bay, and have never actually lived in Portland, but I continue to fantasize about it. Le sigh!
