So many families are filled with tension as there seems to be clashes of opinion and behavior that could have been much easier had there been more attention paid by parents to parents. We see all the reports, the laws, the sanctions, books and shows about what is wrong with society. We allow society to pass laws that are making it easier for people

My parents made a point of spending time rather than money on me while I was growing up. My father said that was the important thing, giving a child one's time and attention.

Few parents now seem to believe in those values that I was brought up with. At least I know that I was of sufficient importance to my parents that they took time from their busy lives to take care of me properly and tell me "no" when it would have been easier for them to take the easy way out and say "yes".
