A UCSB study showed that Indiana's switch to Daylight Saving Time increased energy bills:

I recommend shortening the workday to fit into no more than available daylight, year round, at the appropriate amount for the local latitude.

Actually, I agree with this, too. As efficiency increases with technology, work days should shorten. How else are we going to get to the world of The Jetsons?

But that's another rant. :)
