The WaveBox Portable Microwave

Mar 07, 2007 00:08

Isn't this great?! A portable microwave that can utilize AC, DC through a cigarette lighter outlight, or DC direct from a vehicle battery. Now you can have a microwave in the car, for camping, maybe even for conventions in lieu of paying for the hotel's microwave. XD

$199. Backordered though.

Kinda neat and all, but at $200? Really silly. :P

If you run it off of the cig lighter, you have to figure you're going to be limited on performance. It's a small microwave, but power is still going to suck (150 watts, maybe?). Probably somewhat more efficient than trying to carry one of those electric coolers & heaters, but still really silly. And yeah, as neo_serenity mentioned, for conventions, there are plenty of reasonably small microwaves available for much cheaper. So the only really compelling case has to be travel, where you might use the alternate power sources. I'm sure for a person who does a lot of camping and such, this might make sense. Or for the long distance drivers who carry lots of kids or something who don't want them to be eating McDs every time, yeah, maybe. For the rest of us childless, city-dwelling folk, the money's probably better spent ( ... )
