But now that the last few elections have seen BC having a lot of deciding factor, then I can understand the concern to eliminate as much as possible any sort of sway influence by voting patterns back east.
Not sure why there is anu controversy - why do they have to release the results as soon as they occur? Why do in some countries - wait until ALL polls have be counted before releasing ANY results. Many countries have to wait a week or more before the results are known. I'd expect this would become the case here if STV ever became the norm.

Well, I am sure a lot of my friends in Halifax are going to be posting updates on the election. Is there any way that the government can actually do anything about personal/friends only blogs? I don't think the government would care as long as the blog in question isn't reaching hundreds and hundreds of people. I guess LJ as a whole has this potential and more though... Hmmmm.
It seems so silly, but I can understand. I guess they don't want people here changing their votes because a party they really hate might be winning.

Shane's been reading Canadian politics communities, but he hadn't told me when was the election otherwise I would've gotten on him about getting a way to vote from down here. Too late now. I don't think he's mentioned it yet in his LJ, but at least he gets to view returns Monday night on one of our cable channels.
