I'm glad you're alright! If you avoided an accident then breaking a window is much preferable. The quick and easy way to fix a broken window is to duct tape plastic over the hole. You're best bet is going to walmart and buying some painter's tarp. It should be clearish, you won't be able to see clearly but it should work until you can get a new window.
for a replacement rear windshield, http://www.glass.net/ seems to work well. I check for a 1997 Dodge Caravan in your area and they priced 3 places 292-301. I don't know if you can get it for any cheaper. Just remember you have a 1997 Dodge Caravan. You should be able to find more glass places in your area, I don't know how much they will be, I'm sure you can find someplace cheaper.
buck up kiddo, its just a window. it will be a hole in the wallet for a bit, but as you yourself didn't get hurt, and the car is definitely still running, I'd call that a win. Just remember that sometimes, all you need to do is step back, and look at it in a different way (or sometimes the completely bass-ackwards side of it) to see if there's anything good about it.
