Found your journal on the iaido interest group. From their website, your dojo looks pretty cool. I've seen one site that states that the person demonstrating waza in the videos on GSA's Iaido Curriculum page is Nagae Matasaburo, 8th dan ZNKR: http://iai.whaleeaters.org/.
Pleasure to meet you, too. I have added you to my friend's list.
I am sorry to read the news about your mother. Hang in there. Although, I am glad for you that you grandfather's prognosis looks so much better.
Lately, it seems that more and more of the people I know locally are losing their parents. My own are not in the best of health, and my mother-in-law is confined to a wheelchair.
I find some small comfort in my practice of iaido. Lynda White, a west coast iaidoka I met at a recent seminar, thinks of iai as "so inherently about the reality of life and death, but so interesting that it can bring out the best in a person."
I am sorry to hear that you are also experiencing such difficulties. If nothing else, such experiences have the potential to be highly transformative.. so for all the pain and displeasure, it is an practical lesson in alchemy.. to take the undesirable and transmute it into gold.
I like that quote.. I regard the sword highly as that which separates the immpermanent and material from the timeless and formless.. it becomes a very beautiful spiritual practice, to wield such powerful consciousness.
As salaam aleikum. I discovered you through our mutual friend chrysippvs. We have a few interests (intellectually and spiritually) in common, and I have taken the liberty of adding you as a friend. I am glad to hear you had a good trip down south.
Wa alaikum salaam - I have seen your comments every now and then in his journal. It's a pleasure to meet you.. I have added you as well, and hope to see more of you in the future. Be well.
The pleasure is mine. I hope that you shall be well also.
I started to reply to your comment about the physical distance between yourself and the one you love. I share your pain, as my beloved lives the next state over, and is---even worse---currently in Paris. But, I have never felt closer---spiritually, emotionally, psychologically---to any human being in my life. True love at last! I wish the same for you, friend.
It is truly amazing to share that kind of all-encompassing connection with another being.. It is blissful.. and distance tears at the heart. I hope that you are reunited soon..
