That reminds of this book I read over the holidays, 'Doing our own thing : the degradation of language and music and why we should, like, care'. It's all about the evolution/devolution of language - it's what it says it is, really. Pretty good read. Slightly pretentious, but you'd like that.

It does sound like a good read, at that. I like it already. Have you a copy I might peruse?

I got it out from the library, so you should be able to find a copy there.
