Yesterday I had one of those amazing evenings where you just go on instinct to find the neatest thing next. I went to dance class - my first NIA in Victoria and on the way home I decided to stop by Answergirl's house with the landscaping project going on. I ran into my old friend craig out front, who I hadn't seen yet and his lovely newly arrived

I love that you're having that feeling there, much as we miss you here. My friend Matt (who was visiting from NYC) and I were talking about the feeling of "home", the place where you smile upon returning even if you live elsewhere, the place that fills you with its smells and knows you as well as you know it.

For me, that's Seattle. When I've lived away from here, I would burst into tears when the plane would land and I'd get my first glimpse of the deep blue of the sky, the particular green of the foliage... For Matt, that's NYC. I get a sense that Victoria is that way for you. It's cool.

The home feelings are very strong right now. The walk home tonight from downtown after a massage and a trip to one of my favourite restaurants - ferris's, was lovely and each block had incredible things to look at in gardens or riding by on bikes. I do love Victoria.... especially this time of year.
