Danny Gokey over Allison Iraheta? Really, America?
He Who is Bespectacled, Has a Smarmy Grin and Stole a Slot in the Top 3 from Allison Iraheta
>> Paula Abdul's Choice: "Dance Little Sister," Terence Trent D'Arby
Danny can't do uptempo songs - he sings them like he's mad about something, yelling every note. His scatting drove me crazy, and his dancing will probably give me nightmares.
>> Personal Choice: "You are So Beautiful," Joe Cocker
Very predictable song choice, considering he's constantly drawn comparisons to Cocker. Still, I have to say he did it nicely, playing to his strengths in this second song.
He Who is the Competition's Dark Horse and Deserves a Spot in the Finale
>> Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi's Choice: "Apologize," OneRepublic
Kris struggled when he went into falsetto (which kind of puzzled me, since he did it well in his performance of "Falling Slowly"), but the verses were solid, especially when he opened.
I have to say though, I was kind of entertained watching Simon and Kara spar, although seriously, they need to stop hogging the spotlight from the contestants. It seems very immature of them, not to mention completely unprofessional.
>> Personal Choice: "Heartless," Kanye West
I love how he picked something out of left field. It was a huge risk, because it could've totally bombed, but he pulled it off quite artistically, choosing to forego the accompaniment of the band and delivering a performance straight out of a stripped down, acoustic set.
He Who Will Most Likely Win, Because Let's Face It, He Deserves It
>> Simon Cowell's Choice: "One," U2
Question first, why do lighting guys on the show love drowning Adam in harsh blue lighting? They did it when he sang "Mad World," too. Also, I don't know how Paula can possibly dance to a song this slow. As much as I think Adam deserves this year's title, I want one quasi- uptempo song where he doesn't go into his high shrieky notes. He does slow songs so nicely, and sometimes, those big high notes aren't needed. (I think I've said that pretty much the entire season.) And that hideous faded blue shirt should never be worn by anyone ever again.
>> Personal Choice: "Cryin'," Aerosmith
Not everyone can do Aerosmith, but Adam did it well, and I don't even mind that he shrieked at the end of the song. He's the most consistent contestant on the show, knocking most - if not all - of his performances out of the ballpark, so as long as people voted, he's definitely in the finale.
Please America, you already took Allison away from the show; the least you can do is make sure it's an Adam/Kris finale. (Also, how much do you want to bet Kara DioGuardi penned this year's coronation song?)
Oh, and anyone going to the David & David concert on Saturday? See you there!
