Huh, the title could become two great LJ tags. I think I'll do exactly that. That and I find the Kelis song mentioned in this post to be the best rage-filled song ever to listen to and sing along with when mad because it has screaming and the words "I hate you so much right now!" in the lyrics, even though my anger isn't the same as the song's rage

I check that tumblr every few days for any new cute stuff :) The fic for this pairing are still sparse and some aren't necessarily brilliant but they make me far happier than a lot of stuff from other places lately. I've also read some (but not enough!) really good Steve/Bucky fic from AO3.

No it's not Sharon. It's almost worse :( It's horrible too because one of the things I love about this character is that she doesn't take crap from anyone, not even from the man she has feelings for. What really upset me was that she had to restrain from her voicing her full opinion, which is not just hopelessly sexist in this context, but also really OOC.

Yes, protagonist privilege mixed in with a bunch of RL crap mixed in with deeply uneven ships create one helluva toxic mess. This was like the final straw.

I just want to enjoy my fandoms during a really good period and aarrrgh...

Me too! I can be a little cynical about how romantic subplots are depicted in movies but the romance between Peggy and Steve actually got me emotionally invested, which is miraculous because I knew she wasn't the longstanding love interest. I'd almost go so far as to call it my fave het pairing for Steve within a specific context and timeframe (although it also ironically made me ship Sharon/Steve even harder).

I kept it vague because I was trying to spare you! But my description of her is based on fairly recent material involving her. Trust me, she is not someone who is afraid of expressing herself. That said, let's just say it's not Pepper because her role in this fic is just as ridiculous for her character but in a different way.

Yeah, I kept on reading it just to make sure I wasn't overreacting and because I assumed like you that there would be some sort of turning point in characterisation.

I think pervyficgirl said it best that it's the kind of thing that happens when the fandom only cares about one person in the ship. We're just meant to assume and accept that he's really just a great guy but when you actually read the fic something seriously got lost in translation...
