Ooh, how wonderful to have sneaky people pull off such pleasant surprises for you!! Packing can wait, birthday fun can't. Happy birthday! (BTW, did your house sell yet? Cader work and all?)
Ah yes, the packing definitely awaits! Slowly and surely, I'm making progress, though, and other things are falling into place. The condo hasn't sold yet, though. I'm convinced the "cadar wook" is to blame. How do you catch a wook, anyway?
Thanks, my dear Aeryn! But I knew you were offline, having read Lian's entry forwarding all your BLEEPS. How hellishly frustrating for you. Have you thought of a suitable form of torture for those cable-tearing louts?
Oh was I bleeping...you have NO idea. Internet is one thing...and I can live without tv...but no phone too?! I'd just sent out Mini Darth's b-day party invites too!
Well, I considered a lengthy diatribe at them...but was vetoed by the hubby that the landlord wouldn't be happy.
And don't get me started on the trash they leave...everywhere! Hubby got so mad at one point, he poured their left over coffee/shake thing all over their tools and left the cup on top.
So sorry I missed wishing you a happy birthday on time (that 'my LJ' feature won't send me email reminders on birthdays, and I often forget to check it). But I do hope your fiftieth will be your best year yet, and I wish you many happy returns.
Thanks so much for your wishes, Lorena! So far, this year is shaping up to be one of my most interesting--not (I hope) in the Chinese curse sense of the word. I feel fortunate to live in a time and place when hitting up against a big round number doesn't mean the possibilities for change or new opportunities are over and done.
I know what you mean. I hit a 'big round number' myself this year (40). The only things that make me feel old are the physical ailments and such, but apart from that I know I've still a long way to go yet.

*cracks up laughing* Oh, that's just classic! Someday I'd love to meet your hubby. Meantime, I doff my hat in his general direction.
