The corpse gave a twitch, which startled everyone

Hello Flist ... !

I'm still not sure where Fall 2007 went, though I suspect large parts of it disappeared into cyberspace.  I was teaching online again on top of an almost full-time job--fun and interesting, but so time-consuming!  I was also seduced for a while by Facebook, now a haven for middle-age-somethings trying to keep in touch with family ( Read more... )

Hello stranger. Welcome back! :D

My, you have been busy. No wonder you haven't been around...I think I'd be passed out in a corner somewhere with a schedule like yours.

Ann ... how wonderful to hear from you! Yes, I think I've learned my lesson: one job at a time, thank you very much.

By perhaps not so sheer coincidence, I started reading your SS/HG exchange fic, Have a Chat yesterday, and I can see I have a lot of high-quality catching up to do! I'm enjoying it very much so far.

On a different note, your Opera House icon is gorgeous. I'm happy to say I'll be seeing the very thing in person around mid-April, when I'm hauling Mr Savageland (who is happy to be hauled) down to Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide for three weeks' holiday! I haven't been to Oz since 1999, so I'm really looking forward to the visit.

(P.S. If you don't find a taker to translate your lovely art into icons, I can do that using Photoshop. Just let me know!)

Oh, that is excellent. *bounces*

When you've got a clearer idea of dates, let me know and I'll take you to see the best view of Sydney. It's not on the tourist trail, but you look straight up the harbour (the opposite view to the photo). I'm staying on nights for a while, saving to go to Portus/Dallas in July. :D

I'm in the process (at the moment) of finishing it up where I wanted it to end - and it's certainly more fun to write than AAM (only one chapter left until it's done ( ... )

It would be fabulous to meet you, Ann! (esp since I'm not going to Portus). We're nailing down when we're going to be where, but it looks like we'll be in Sydney Apr. 15 through 21. We can confirm closer to the time, and not to worry if you end up being too busy to do anything other than grab a quick coffee.

My dear Aph ... I've missed you! I was thinking about you the other day when I was working some stories in Ashwinder, recalling when we both started out as admins ... feels like eons ago. Yes, I'm sticking around and looking forward to catching up on your latest projects.

yay! the corpse twitched! I said no to extra online teaching--and got evenings and weekends back! and you've got time for fun stuff!!!

it's not a real party if you're not there. so glad to see you again, and looking forward to whatever you'll be posting next month. is it a new fic, or a sequel to... ahem... you know what? whatever, I'll gladly read it.

btw, what's that new icon of yours?

Glad you like the icon (and BTW, your Snape Kenobi makes me smile!). Mr Savageland and I were rummaging through some old boxes and found dozens of slides I took back in the '70s as a teenager, when I used to enjoy the picturesque qualities of former Vancouver industrial "wastelands." Some of those slides were in good enough shape to scan!

And thanks for your other encouraging words. The new fic isn't < ahem > a sequel, but it insists on being written (even though slowly), so...we'll see how it goes!

I've been AWOL myself these last months, so I know the feeling. I must say, though, I'm certainly looking forward to more fic from you - your “Somewhere I Have Never Travelled” is one of my favourites, and certainly the best time-travel fic I've ever read.

If you're looking for a taste of new, post DH SS/HG fic, the SSHG Gift Exchange (http://community.livejournal.com/sshg_exchange/) has just wrapped up with posting and there are some delightful gems to have come out of the current round.

Clare, thank you! You're both kind and encouraging. I also appreciate the nudge in the direction of the SSHG gift exchange; I've been following the progress vaguely through WIKTT and (as I said to Ann above) clearly have some major catch-up to do!

Now if only I could download those fics to my PDA...to while away my commuting hours.

I'm so glad to hear from you and that you're writing again. But those "curveballs" don't sound like good news to me ... ? Let's get together for coffee; I'll gmail you.
