Creationists will never give it up. It's too convenient for them to characterise the field as the blind worship of a human individual. And given that demonisation is a standard tactic for the fundamentalist to deal with someone who doesn't agree with him.....they will change, why now?

Having said that, I'm going to point people back to this essay on occasion.

...Oh, and personally, I have a great deal of appreciation for Charles Darwin's work on earthworms. THAT was (please forgive me) groundbreaking.
