Not a hint of lameness to be found. Think the cute slapschtick of the Toy Story movies, the heartstring-pulling of Monsters, Inc., and the sheer brilliance of The Incredibles all in one package. I laughed, I cried, I applauded and cheered, and I want to go see it again!

...and the CG is AMAZING!

I only had a problem with two things. One was after Avindair mentioned it... why was the president live action? Did they run out of time? Did something happen to the footage? I was having such a good time being wowed by the animation and charmed by the story, that I didn't let it bug me in the theater. After thinking about it, it seemed out of place. The second was that there was no answer why our hero was so different than the other WALL-E bots. That actually made me pause and think.

Other than that, I thought it was a brilliant piece of work. I enjoyed the slower pace of the story, learning about the character through his actions, not his words. The live action pres and story question certainly didn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying the movie. A hearty two thumbs up.

I think the insertion of live action footage was a deliberate reversal of the normal practice of inserting CGI into live footage. And it actually seemed less real, I thought, than Wall-E and his world.

And it seemed to me that Wall-E was different simply because he was the only one left on Earth, and had centuries to develop a personality.

The first movie my 3 year old daughter ever sat all the way through. She loved it, if only the movies were cheaper I would take her again.
